The commemoration of 8 March, the International Women Day
The commemoration ceremony of International Women’s Day was held on March 8, 2021, in the conference hall of Professor Ahmad Shafiq Behroozian, University of Afghanistan. At first, Mr. Mostafa Aghili, a university professor and host of the program, welcomed the participants, and then Dr. Sharif Hozoori, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, began his speech entitled “The position of women in society: from speaking to action.” He stated that the reason behind historical backwardness and deprivation of women is inequality in the field of education, freedom, facilities and authority and added that the solution to end the deprivation of women is to create equal opportunities in the above four areas. He added that the end of suffering for women is possible when physical and structural violence against them get ended.
Throughout the program, one of the undergraduate students, Ms. Sewita Anvari shared her personal experience and the problems as a lady with the audience.
Along with professors, colleagues and students, Mr. Mohammad Massoud Rasa, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Mr. Hasibaullah Mayar, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, were also present at the event,
At the end of the meeting, gifts were given by the leadership of the University of Afghanistan to the female colleagues of the university and the ceremony ended with the cutting of the cake provided specially for the program.
